Guan Yu – God of War

Ward of the God of War—Guan Yu.

Guan Yu is a historical figure during the Three Kingdoms Period. He is a general of renown and legendary warrior who has fought and accomplished many extraordinary feats from slaying six top level enemy generals during an escape to decapitating the enemy leader in battle before his liquor turned cold. What brought him to deity status is his steadfast loyalty to his sworn brother, Liu Bei, unbroken even in defeat. Lord Guan Yu chose death over surrender.

Now revered as a deity in many Eastern religions, Guan Yu has statues dedicated to him in many temples and people wear pendants with his image to ward against evil since he represents courage, loyalty, and justice. This Guan Yu pendant depicts the God of War in a fighting pose wielding his famous Green Dragon Crescent Blade. Note the detail from the adornment of his armor to his long flowy beard. Curling beside him is the depiction of a dragon to further augment the regality and power of this deity.
